Dress Code and Uniforms
GROOMING AND DRESS STANDARDS

At American Heritage Academy our focus is student success. Therefore, dressing professionally is of utmost importance. The mandatory Uniform Dress Standard is below. 

Uniform Dress Standard: 
1. Shirts: solid red, white, or navy polo shirts with AHA logo only. 
a. Undershirts, if worn, must be solid white, red, or navy blue and be tucked in. 
b. (Note: only white button-down shirts may be worn as an alternative to polo shirts. White button-down shirts must be tucked in. They do not have to have a logo.) 
2. Pants and skirts: solid khaki, or navy pants, capris or shorts. No leggings or sweatpants. 
a. Shorts must go to the knee and must not be made of jean material. 
b. Skirts and jumpers: Solid red, navy, khaki or navy plaid skirts or jumpers must reach the knee. 
c. Solid colored red, white or navy leggings or tights may be worn under skirts or dresses, if the skirts or dresses reach the knee.
d. No black pants or leggings. We need to stick with the school colors.
e. Note: only 7-12th grade students may wear non-faded blue jeans. Blue jeans must be a solid color and free of holes, tears, or frays. They must look neat and not faded. They cannot be shorts.
3. Jackets and Outerwear: Solid red, white or navy pullovers, sweatshirts, hoodies or vests may be worn in the classroom if they bear the school logo and the student is wearing the appropriate polo shirt underneath. (Students may wear non-AHA colored jackets to and from school but they must be removed inside the school building)
4. Proper footwear is required. No flip-flops, sandals or crocs. 
5. Clothing should be neat and clean. Ladies and gentlemen should practice good hygiene. 
6. Religious, cultural, and approved school activities may be exempted when needed. 
7. The following distract from the educational environment and are not allowed: 
a. Unnatural hair color – Hair must be a natural color only. For example, hair cannot be dyed blue, red, orange and cannot distract from the educational program. 
b. Facial Jewelry - No facial jewelry is permitted. 
c. Excessive earrings – Earrings must be limited to one per ear and must not be ostentatious or large to present a safety hazard during P.E. and other activities. 
d. Excessive jewelry, bracelets, necklaces and other items: These detract from the educational setting. 
e. Excessive Makeup.
f. Obscene language or references to drugs, alcohol, sex, or other distracting verbiage on clothing.
g. Gaudy attire that detracts from the educational setting of the school.
h. Head coverings.
i. Hats may not be worn inside of the school building. 

The last Thursday of the month is Uniform Buyout Day where some exceptions can be made
